End of an Era: Jesuits Withdraw from Murcia: The Society of Jesus has closed its last remaining community in Murcia, Spain, ending its resident presence in the Diocese of Cartagena. Jesuit Provincial Fr. Enric Puiggròs said the closure is part of a "restructuring" driven by a lack of vocations and the aging of the order's members. The Jesuits' presence in Murcia goes back to the 16th century, shortly after the founding of the Society of Jesus in 1540.

The last Jesuits of the Region bid farewell as they close their Santo Domingo community in Murcia due to 'the scarce vocations and our unavoidable aging'

Pilgrims from France in Kazan
Last week, Kazan was visited by French pilgrims who began their journey on foot in 2021 from Fatima (Portugal) to Moscow's Red Square with the aim of consecrating Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and fulfilling the Fatima prophecy. Throughout the entire journey, the pilgrims carried a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which now remains in Russia. Upon completing one of the most difficult pilgrimages of the 21st century, its

Leo XIV Against Remigration of Migrants: Asked about “remigration” of immigrants, Pope Leo XIV replied on Tuesday in Castel Gandolfo: “Simply saying, ‘We send them away, and then the problem is off our hands,’ does not seem to me to be the most Christian response.” He said migrants should be respected as persons, their reasons for leaving considered, and their cases examined individually.

Sulla questione remigrazione, esorta a trattare “con rispetto ogni persona”: “Dire mandiamo via, così ci laviamo le mani, non mi sembra una risposta cristiana”.

St. Vincent Ferrer ~ A001- Dominica I Adventis Domini Sermo 1

The seasonal winter sermons of the preacher and proclaimer of the divine Word, interpreter of sacred scripture and most subtle professor, Saint Vincent, confessor of Valencia, of the Order of Preachers, happily begin.

"And pride is the foundation of all sins. V.g. Why is someone avaricious? It is from pride, because he does not wish to obey the precept of God saying, "You should not lust," or "not commit thefts" etc. Why is someone lustful? Is it not from pride, because he does not wish to obey the precept, "You shall not commit fornication?" Same for gluttony and the other sins. Authority: "Pride is the beginning of all sin," (Sir 10:15). Therefore Christ comes in great humility to reform us, like a servant in administering to us the works of redemption through human incarnation."

Leo XIV convenes the cardinals: confidential note sets out programme and calls for discretion

Vatican City - A confidential briefing note, dated 16 June and accompanied by the detailed schedule of proceedings, has reached the members of the Sacred College in recent hours. It confirms the convocation of the Extraordinary Consistory, called by Leo XIV for 26 and 27 June 2026, and sets out its programme, method and - with an insistence that is hardly accidental - the requirements of confidentiality.
The document begins from a programmatic premise: since his election, the Pope has expressed his wish to draw upon “the wealth of experience and wisdom” of the College. The two days are therefore conceived not as a deliberative assembly, but as a time of fraternal exchange around some of the challenges that today confront the life and mission of the Church.
The four sessions
The proceedings are structured around four main moments, divided between the Paul VI Hall and the New Synod Hall.
Friday 26 June begins at 7.30 a.m. with Holy Mass in St Peter’s Basilica, presided over by Leo XIV …

Cardinal Camillo Ruini Dies at 95

Cardinal Camillo Ruini, an influential churchmen in Italy, died in Rome on the evening of June 16 at age 95.
He had been hospitalized last September with kidney problems and, after an initial recovery, saw his condition worsen in recent weeks. He chose to remain at home under medical care.
Born in Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, Ruini was ordained a priest in 1954.
He became auxiliary bishop of Reggio Emilia-Guastalla in 1983 and secretary-general of the Italian Bishops' Conference (CEI) in 1986.
In 1991, Pope St. John Paul II appointed him to lead the Italian Bishops' Conference, named him Vicar General of Rome, and created him a cardinal. He held the Rome vicariate until 2008 and led the bishops’ conference until 2007.
He became, for nearly two decades, one of the closest collaborators of both John Paul II and later Benedict XVI.
His tenure as bishops’ president coincided with the collapse of the Democrazia Cristiana, the Christian Democratic party that had been the Church's …Bebree

The cardinals are divided into 20 groups, each of which prepares a written report. Only nine groups are scheduled to present their reports in the plenary session. Discussion of the Just War doctrine was anticipated based on earlier Vatican communications, but it is absent from the final agenda. Spaghetti Eating in Cathedral: Bishop Hermann Glettler of Innsbruck, Austria, hosted “Pasta for Everyone” in Innsbruck Cathedral on Sunday. Groups of 100 guests shared a meal during 30-minute sittings, allowing a total of 800 people to participate over four hours. According to Bishop Glettler, the event was designed to encourage people to “engage in conversation together—curious and attentive to another person, sharing a table with someone you did not choose.” Donations collected during the evening supported services for homeless people.

Masses Denied at Multiple Italian Shrines for FSSP

Rorate-Caeli.blogspot.com published on June 16 a report about a recent pilgrimage in Italy with a priest of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP).
- This group was denied the celebration of Mass at the Shrine of San Giovanni Rotondo (Padre Pio) and instead celebrated Mass in a hotel basement.
- At the Basilica in Assisi, they were also denied permission to celebrate Mass in Latin, and they noted that an Orthodox Divine Liturgy was taking place at the same time.
- At Loreto, the group was initially denied permission to celebrate Mass, but the priest was finally able to convince the local authorities. However, in Loreto, there was a station for 'Dialogue and Listening' (pictured). Rather than a priest, a nun was 'listening' without a veil and wearing some kind of Roman collar.

Homosexual UK Couple Convicted of Murdering and Abusing Adopted Toddler

A former teacher and his homosexual partner, a financial sales manager, have been convicted at Preston Crown Court, Lancashire, of murdering and sexually abusing a toddler they were in the process of adopting.
Jamie Varley, 37, was found guilty of murder, two counts of assault by penetration, multiple counts of child cruelty, grievous bodily harm, and offences involving indecent images.
John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, was convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child, child cruelty, and sexual assault.
The victim was born on June 16, 2022, at Wythenshawe Hospital in Greater Manchester. Five days later, social services placed him with foster carers under an emergency order. His mother had a long criminal record, including a murder conviction in 1998.
Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley were approved as prospective adopters in January 2023, and the boy moved into their home in April 2023.
Prosecutors said the child was subjected to sustained abuse almost immediately after his placement. …Bebree

Protestant Prayer and the Catholic Mass as “Different Pathways to God”: “Catholic” U.S. Vice President JD Vance appeared to relativize the Catholic Church and the Eucharist during a June 16 interview on Fox & Friends. Speaking about what he called the strength of “the American church,” Vance emphasized the diversity of [contradicting] Christian denominations: “You can't be an American Catholic or an American Pentecostal or an American Southern Baptist without running into someone who has a slightly different perspective on faith.” He added: “It's all about Jesus.” Vance sees "different ways" by which people find God: “Different ways, sometimes with 'snake handlers' [evangelicals in Kentucky], sometimes with speaking in tongues, sometimes with a beautiful Catholic mass, but I think all these pathways really matter and they're part of the reason why we do find our path to God.”

JD Vance: "One of the things I love about the American church is there are all of these different pathways to God ... sometimes with snake handlers, sometimes with speaking in tongues, sometimes with a beautiful Catholic mass. But I think all of these pathways really matter."

How sickening and so very sad. Another branch of Christianity? All these different pathways? There is only one Christian Faith. The Catholic Faith. What is wrong with his mother?
Every protestant cult, and it's said there are about 100,000 of them, have a different Christ with their teachings. Then each person within those 100,000 cults also has their own Christ. Taking what they want and changing and denying what they don't want. Many take one thing from one of their cults, another from another cult and so on.
They are all scattered and confused. Nothing but demonic chaos. My nephew last year told me 5 new protestant buildings went up on his block alone!

Water, Fire and Flower

– Folha de S. Paulo, February 23, 1981 –
by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
I am taking a deep interest in the Polish question and I think the reader should too.
It is quite true that for many religious, historical, ethnic, and geographical reasons Poland of itself merits special respect and affection from all Catholics.
Consequently, current events there should attract everyone’s attention. But at the present we are led to that conclusion by reasons of an even greater import.
For the world, the events in Poland are constituted as a sign of the future. If the unique relationship, which a newspaper has called “the Polish triangle,” between the Warsaw government, the episcopate, and the coalition of workers’ organizations labeled “Solidarity” is successful, then something in communism has changed.
Or something has changed in the Church, and therefore, in the world. Something, indeed, that until a while ago was steadfastly deemed immutable. How can I affirm this?
Perhaps a metaphor would be …Bebree
