Two women once went to a wise old spiritual counselor seeking guidance.
One of them believed she was a terrible sinner. Years earlier, she had been unfaithful to her husband, and the guilt had followed her ever since. It weighed on her daily. She carried it quietly, but constantly.
The other woman had lived what she considered a respectable, law-abiding life. She didn’t see any major wrongdoing in her past. In fact, she felt fairly satisfied with herself.
The counselor listened carefully as each woman shared her story.
