Church’s Family Model "Discriminative" - German 🌈 Jesuit

“The normative elevation of the traditional family, as practiced by the Catholic Church, leads to discrimination against believers who do not live that way,” German Jesuit Klaus Mertes told Zeit.de on December 25.
Fr. Mertes became widely known in 2010 as a propagandist for the public handling of clerical homosexual-abuse cases involving male victims within Church institutions in Germany.
In the interview, Fr. Mertes warned that the Catholic Church must be vigilant about how the “traditional family” model it explicitly favors can be politically instrumentalized.
“The Catholic Church has to be careful that the classical image of the family, which it openly promotes, is not politically misused,” he said. “This keeps happening, and that is a problem.”
